Earlier this month it was revealed that Gonzalez was set to join Kaizer Chiefs on loan from Bolivian Premira Division side Real Santa Cruz, with an option to purchase at the end of the 2023/24 season.
With Chiefs on the hunt for another striker for some time, it’s hoped that Gonzalez will provide real firepower up front, and the signing has now been announced.
“With the season already underway, Kaizer Chiefs continue to bolster their squad by announcing the signing of Efmamjjasond González Palacios from Colombia, as they prepare to compete strongly in 2023/24,” a statement read.
“The forward, simply known as Jasond González, is the second player from Colombia to sign for Amakhosi. He joins the team a year after his fellow countryman, Leonardo Castro, departed South Africa.
“González, who was plying his trade in the Bolivian Primera Division for Real Santa Cruz, is expected to arrive in South Africa soon to start his career as a Glamour Boy.”
According to iDiski Times, his visa is yet to be approved as a result of the fact that Colombia does not have a South African embassy, and his application now needs to go via Venezuela first.
It’s expected that this will take a few more days, but the talented youngster should then soon be able to complete his move to Chiefs.
