Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has revealed why he left out Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Peterson from the national team.
Broos named his 23-man squad to face Namibia and DR Congo and the second successive selection, the Bafana coach failed to call-up Chiefs players. To his credit, Amakhosi started the season poorly with most of their players struggling to impress under new coach Molefi Ntseki.

Peterson has been Amakhosi’s best player so far this season but failed to make the Bafana cut. Asked why the 28-year-old shot-stopper was excluded from the squad, Broos did not hold back, saying the keeper has ‘weak moments’.

“He’s not bad but he has his weak moments sometimes in the game and for the keeper, this is very dangerous to have those weak moments,” Broos told Sabc Sport on Wednesday.

The Belgian coach also explained why he excluded Kaizer Chiefs players from his squad.
“For the moment Kaizer Chiefs is still Kaizer Chiefs of last year,” he told the media during his squad announcement.
“They have a lot of new players and maybe that is the reason why they don’t achieve what they need to achieve.
“They are still many points behind Sundowns and I said it already year – for any competition it’s important that the top teams are in the top of the ranking,” said Broos.
