Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane is unfazed by their poor record against TS Galaxy, a team that is labelled as a hoodoo side for Amakhosi.
Mdantsane said all the previous results for Chiefs against Galaxy will not count when the two DStv Premiership sides meet this weekend, he told Sowetan.
Chiefs will travel to Mbombela Stadium to honour their third league fixture and the former Cape Town City star, Mdantsane said they have confidence heading to the tie versus Galaxy
MDANTSANE UNFAZED WITH CHIEFS’ HOODOO SIDE GALAXY
Taking a glance at the past meetings between Chiefs and Galaxy, the numbers suggest that the Soweto giants are struggling against the Rockets.
The two premiership clubs have met on eight occasions and out of those eight meetings, Chiefs boast just a single win with five draws and two defeats.
“What happened previously, we have to let it go. What’s important is now. Galaxy are a different team now compared to last season and we are also a different team, so I really don’t think history will play any role in Sunday’s game,” Mdantsane told Sowetan.
MDANTSANE REMAINS HUMBLE DESPITE NTSEKI’S PRAISE
The former Baroka midfielder preferred to downplay coach Molefi Ntseki’s praise after their MTN8 win over City.
Ntseki said Chiefs missed a player of Mdantsane’s calibre, but the creative playmaker believes everyone is important at Naturena.
“Everyone in the team is important. It’s not about me but it’s about working together to achieve our collective goal of making our fans happy by winning things,” Mdantsane added.
Following the win as they beat the Citizens and Chiefs set to face Mamelodi Sundowns in the semi-finals, Mdantsane now banks on the high spirits in camp.
“The confidence of the team is high. That win over City helped us a lot as far as boosting our morale is concerned,” he continued.
“The spirit among the squad is amazing…everyone wants to win and fight for everything that’s on offer.”
Heading to the clash slated for Sunday afternoon, Chiefs are yet to taste a win in the league after drawing against Chippa United and losing one to Sundowns.
