Earlier this month it was revealed that Gonzalez was set to join Kaizer Chiefs from Bolivian side Real Santa Cruz, with the signing eventually confirmed publicly as Amakhosi’s hunt for another striker came to fruition.
“With the season already underway, Kaizer Chiefs continue to bolster their squad by announcing the signing of Efmamjjasond González Palacios from Colombia, as they prepare to compete strongly in 2023/24,” a statement read.
“The forward, simply known as Jasond González, is the second player from Colombia to sign for Amakhosi. He joins the team a year after his fellow countryman, Leonardo Castro, departed South Africa. González, who was plying his trade in the Bolivian Primera Division for Real Santa Cruz, is expected to arrive in South Africa soon to start his career as a Glamour Boy.”
That arrival date has now been outlined by FAR Post, with the publication reporting that his visa has been approved and that he will potentially arrive in Johannesburg as early as Tuesday this week before joining up with his teammates at Naturena on Wednesday.
It was previously reported that the visa approval had been slightly delayed as a result of the fact that Colombia does not have a South African embassy, and his application needed to go via Venezuela first.
