The futures of at least five Kaizer Chiefs players are still very much in the air with a 22 September transfer deadline looming.

DERBY DAY: Next two Chiefs vs Pirates dates confirmed

KAIZER CHIEFS COULD AXE FIVE STARS

Happy Mashiane has been plagued by injuries after a promising start to life at Naturena. Even with limited options at left-back, Ntseki has opted not to hand him any minutes this term. Meanwhile, Sabelo Radebe’s main issue is the quality of central midfielders at the club. Most relevantly, Samkelo Zwane who is two years his senior but already a much more vital member of the first team.

Although Njabulo Ngcobo has been involved to some extent this season, he’s still behind first-choice central defensive pairing Spiwe Msimango and Thatayaone Ditlhokwe, with Zitha Kwinika now ahead of him in the pecking order. Will he be content to stick around with such limited game time? Another player whose pathway to the first team looks bleak is Wandile Duba. He’s still young, but the wealth of strikers at Naturena means he might have to consider his future. Kamohelo Mahlatsi, meanwhile, has flattered to deceive so far in an Amakhosi jersey.

NTSEKI LOSES FAITH IN A QUARTET OF STARS?

So far in 2023/24, Bruce Bvuma, Happy Mashiane, Kamohelo Mahlatsi and Wandile Duba have all failed to get a single minute of action in the first team. Molefi Ntseki hasn’t been afraid to ring the changes, but this quartet of fringe players have seen zero action this term. This is according to SoccerLaduma. Bvuma will likely be retained as the third-choice keeper, but the futures of Mashiane, Mahlatsi and Duba look far less certain.
