Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Derrick Spencer believes his former team will beat Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 semi-finals.

The two teams face off in the first leg of the semi-final at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Downs have had the better of Chiefs already this season, having beaten the Glamour Boys in Pretoria 2-1 earlier this month in their league meeting.

KAIZER CHIEFS LEGEND BACKING KHOSI TO BEAT BRAZILIANS

Former Kaizer Chiefs and Sundowns centre-back says Amakhosi will somehow find a way to beat the Brazlians.

“Many have looked at the MTN8 semi-final draw of the game between Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns and they have concluded that Chiefs are out of the competition,” Spencer was quoted on Soccer Laduma.

“That’s a big mistake. I personally can confidently say that Chiefs will win this one. Yes, they lost the DStv Premiership game but if you look at the game, it was two mistakes from Chiefs that cost them the game.”

Spencer said that Molefi Ntseki won’t make the same mistakes when they play Sundowns this Saturday.

Kaizer Chiefs have not won a single trophy in over eight years and Spencer believes that will motivate the players to do well against Downs.

“It’s true that every team wants to win a trophy but in this case, Chiefs need a trophy more than Sundowns. And winning the MTN8 could be a very good start to the season not just for the team but for coach Molefi Ntseki and his technical team and that’s why i believe Chiefs will beat Sundowns this time around,” said Spencer.
