Kaizer Chiefs defender Edmilson Dove has revealed his role in helping the new South American signings at Kaizer Chiefs.
DOVE IS THE KAIZER CHIEFS TRANSLATOR
Mozambican defender Edmilson Dove revealed he is helping the new players settle in and feel welcomed by being their translator as they acclimatize to the culture and language in South Africa. Dove, of course, is fluent in Portuguese and that helps him communicate in Spanish with new signings Edson Castillo and Efmamjjasond Gonzalez.
Dove spoke to iDiski Times about his role at the club, either as a player or a translator. Check it out in their full interview.
“Yeah, obviously, as the chairman said it’s a family, we should be able to embrace each other, help each other where we can,” Dove, whose Mozambique booked their AFCON ticket this past weekend, told iDiski Times.
“And for me, if I can lay a hand to help teammates that don’t understand English and it’s an honour for me. That’s how you make people feel comfortable, feel welcomed as they’re part of this family.
“So I’m just there to help where I can, translating because they speak Spanish and not much English. So for me, it’s just as just a teammate trying to help another teammate.”
DOVE BACK IN THE FOLD
The versatile and experienced Mozambican defender is fit again after a groin injury in pre-season against Young Africans. He was on the bench for his nation’s dramatic 3-2 win over Benin in an AFCON qualifier at the weekend and inching closer to a return for his club.
