Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Edson Castillo has a clear pathway to the World Cup in 2026.
CASTILLO SHINING FOR AMAKHOSI
New Kaizer Chiefs midfield schemer Edson Castillo has become a firm fan favourite in the early days of his career at Naturena. Signed for his all-round midfield talents and technical ability, he’s also weighed in with four goals across all competitions. The club’s joint-top scorer also has his sights set on the world.
KAIZER CHIEFS STAR PAVING THE WAY TO WORLD CUP QUALIFICATION
Castillo, now 29, has been called up to the Venezuela squad for upcoming World Cup qualifiers against the giants of Brazil and Chile. That’s a big vote of confidence in his abilities. Often, South American players have been recruited to the PSL but not got the plaudits at the international level. Castillo has the chance to change that trend to help his nation qualify for the World Cup, and potentially play in the showpiece in three years. It would be Venezuela’s first-ever participation at the tournament.
