Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Aden McCarthy were all part of the DDC matchday squad, and played a full 90 minutes each against Pirates.
And that move raised a few eyebrows given their promotion to the first team, but DDC team coach Vela Khumalo explained why he brought them back.
According to Khumalo, the aim was to give the trio – Shabalala, Duba and McCarthy – some game time as it has been difficult for them in the first team.
From the three players, only Shabalala has some minutes under his belt this season but the pressure has just been too much for Molefi Ntseki to deliver positive results.
KAIZER CHIEFS EXPLAIN TRIO’S RETURN TO DDC TEAM
“With regards to Mduduzi [Shabalala], Duba and Aiden [McCarthy], we wanted to give them game time,” explained Khumalo to SuperSport TV.
“It’s a little bit hectic on that side [senior team]. We want to get results from the first team, so they don’t get that game time. So we thought they still belong here. They are still young and can still do it. So why not?
“We brought them in because we wanted to give them the full game which they got, and I am happy because it has been long since they played in a competitive game. So for them to do this, it’s okay,” added Khumalo.
