Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu are both in desperate need of goals and points this weekend in the PSL.

SOWETO: A potentially fruitful alliance between Chiefs and Pirates

EFMAMJJASOND TO AVERT KAIZER CHIEFS STRIKER CRISIS?

After three league matches this season, Amakhosi have scored just one goal, Ashley Du Preez’s equalizer in a 2-1 defeat to Sundowns. They drew a blank in a goalless draw against Chippa on the opening day and then failed to find the back of the net in a 1-0 defeat at TS Galaxy last time out. It’s early days still, but Orlando Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa has more goals in the PSL this season than the whole Kaizer Chiefs squad combined. New Colombian signing Efmamjjasond Gonzalez has been unveiled and could be available. That would be convenient for head coach Ntseki since Ranga Chivaviro hobbled off against Galaxy and Ashley Du Preez is recovering from flu after missing that match.

AMAZULU KEEPING THINGS TIGHT, TOO TIGHT

Astonishingly, all three of AmaZulu’s league encounters in 2023-24 have produced goalless stalemates. Another 0-0 draw on Saturday would probably be regarded as a good result for the visitors as they’d preserve their 100% clean sheet record. Kaizer Chiefs fans, on the other hand, would bemoan yet another day where their side dropped points and failed to create clear-cut opportunities.

Kickoff at FNB Stadium on Saturday 26 August is at 530pm.
