Mamelodi Sundowns have SMASHED another PSL record which was most recently held by Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
On Wednesday, Sundowns faced Stellenbosch FC with one thing in mind, and it was to break Chiefs’ record of eight straight league wins at the start of the season.
Sundowns, though, had to fight to break that record as Stellies gave them a scare by opening the scoring in the 14th minute.
However, Grant Kekana, Aubrey Modiba and Siyabonga Mabena all scored as Sundowns made it EIGHT league wins on the trot.
That record was held by Chiefs who set it during the 2014-15 season when Stuart Baxter was still their coach.
Ironically, this was the same season that saw Chiefs win the league, their last piece of silverware.
Sundowns can set a new record of nine wins if they beat Moroka Swallows in their next league on 29 October.

THIS IS THE SECOND CHIEFS RECORD BROKEN BY SUNDOWNS
Just last week, Sundowns equalled Chiefs’ record for most league games (31) without a loss as they beat Orlando Pirates 1-0.
