In a thrilling encounter on Wednesday afternoon, Mamelodi Sundowns emerged victorious with a 2-1 win over Kaizer Chiefs.
The match proved to be a tale of two halves, with the Brazilians dominating the first half and leaving no chance for Amakhosi to create any sort of chances in front of goal.
SUNDOWN’S DOMINANT PERFORMANCE IN THE FIRST HALF
The first half saw Sundowns in complete control, with Thapelo Maseko’s skills and speed causing all sorts of trouble for Reeve Frosler, the Kaizer Chiefs’ right back. Maseko kept Frosler on his toes, constantly pressing forward and creating opportunities for his team.

The second half witnessed a different story. Kaizer Chiefs came out with renewed hope and determination, and their efforts were finally rewarded in the 84th minute when Ashley Du Preez found the back of the net through the individual brilliance of Tebogo Postane’s assist.
The goal provided a glimmer of hope for Chiefs and their supporters.
But their joy was short-lived, as just six minutes later, Neo Maema scored a stunning goal to restore the Brazilians’ lead.
Despite Chiefs’ valiant efforts in the second half, they were unable to add more goals to their tally.
