Man United will be without key defender Raphael Varane when they face Arsenal this Sunday.
The 30-year-old centre-back was withdrawn at half-time in United’s win over Nottingham Forest last weekend.
Varane is expected to be out of action for weeks leaving the door open for Harry Maguire to slot in his place.
MAN UNITED LOSE VARANE EARLY IN THE SEASON
Man United have played without Varane before in the previous season and will feel confident about winning without the French defender as the statistics are just as positive when he doesn’t start compared to when he is named in the starting XI. The France international has suffered several injuries since joining the Red Devils two years ago has made 66 appearances for United but has missed 34 matches through injury.
In the 45 Premier League matches he has started in, Man United have a win percentage of 51.1 percent, and in the 34 he hasn’t started in, they win 52.9 percent of encounters.
INJURY PRONE VARANE OUT FOR WEEKS
Man United manager Erik Ten Hag will prefer Lisandro Martinez and Victor Lindelof as his centre-back pairings for the Arsenal game with Maguire on the bench.
Maguire was set to join West Ham before the transfer deadline but injury to Varane could force Ten Hag to keep the English defender at Old Trafford for another year.
