New Kaizer Chiefs striker Efmamjjasond González is about to get his first taste of the unique experience that is South African Home Affairs.
GONZALEZ TOUCHES DOWN IN SOUTH AFRICA ON TUESDAY
“The player got his South Africa travel Visa last week Friday. He is now scheduled to travel to South Africa today (21 August) at 8 pm. He will apply for his SA work permit upon his arrival,” a source told Goal.
González commenced his travels yesterday and should arrive on South African soil on Tuesday 22 August. Only then can he apply for his SA work permit. This means his involvement in Amakhosi’s DStv Premiership clash against AmaZulu on Saturday is in serious doubt. Our advice to Jason D is? Take a book along and make sure your phone is charged.
AMAKHOSI BATTLING TO SCORE GOALS
The Glamour Boys have scored just one goal n three league outings this season, an Ashley Du Preez equalizer against Sundowns in a match Chiefs lost 2-1. Du Preez missed the 1-0 defeat to TS Galaxy with a flu infection and is a major doubt for the clash against Usuthu. Ranga Chivaviro was replaced with a muscular injury in the 29th minute of that match. so Chiefs are looking awfully light up front. If Du Preez, Chivaviro and González are all unavailable, Wanfdile Duba will be the only senior number 9 Molefi Ntseki can call upon.
AmaZulu, for their part, have played out three consecutive goalless draws in the DStv Premiership this term, so goal-scoring is a problematic issue for them too.
