Kaizer Chiefs coach Molefi Ntseki has explained why he substituted Edson Castillo despite the midfielder’s strong performance against Sekhukhune United.
Amakhosi ended their two game losing streak when they came from a goal behind to beat Sekhukhune United 2-1 in the DStv Premiership match on Wednesday evening.
Castillo cancelled out Elias Mokwana’s opener in the 59th minute but was withdrawn five minutes after the goal which made Khosi fans angry.
A WIN FOR CHIEFS TAKES PRESSURE OF NTSEKI
Ntseki had exlplained his decision to sub the South American and leave Yusuf Maart on the field.
“I think [with] Castillo it was more of a tactical change that we needed to do because it’s not like we want to take our players off the field on the stretcher. It’s more of the management of the players mentally and physically, so I think the players that came in did a very good job,” Ntseki was quoted on SowetanLive.
Chiefs new signing Sibongiseni Mthethwa, eventually made his debut late in the game.
“When it comes to Mthethwa, I think we all know the quality we have in him, that’s the main reason the club brought him in. You can tell how talented he is, he’s the leader and the fighter on the pitch,” Ntseki added.
