SHALULILE BLASTS KAIZER CHIEFS OUT OF THE MTN8

Namibian marksman Peter Shalulile was on hand to put the Brazilians ahead against Chiefs with just 10 seconds on the clock. With that strike, he scored the quickest goal in MTN8 history, surpassing Daine Klate’s goal after 34 seconds for Wits vs. Sundowns in the 2016 final. The brace against the Glamour Boys was Peter Shalulile’s 27th & 28th Cup goals for Sundowns, bringing him level with Themba Zwane for the most goals by a Sundowns player in Cup competitions in the PSL era.

TROPHY DROUGHT TO CONTINUE

Just a reminder that Kaizer Chiefs haven’t won silverware of any description since their DStv Premiership title win in 2015. They’re highly unlikely to make a title push in 2023-24, and they’re out of the MTN8. If they don’t win the Nedbank Cup, the drought will extend to nine years. Chiefs’ best performance in recent years in the league was a runners-up spot in 2019-20. Will this large-scale rebuilding process show immediate results on the pitch? Time will tell.
