Kaizer Chiefs produced yet another underwhelming performance as they went down 1-0 to TS Galaxy at Mbombela on Sunday. What are the repercussions for some of their players and head coach Molefi Ntseki?
KAIZER CHIEFS MUST MAKE DRASTIC CHANGES
Here’s a trio of players who shouldn’t start against AmaZulu.
Veteran left-back Hlanti was perhaps fortunate not to concede a first-half penalty after he appeared to handle in his box. It’s unclear whether Edmilson Dove will be back anytime soon, but perhaps another option is to shift Thatayaone Ditlhokwe out to left-back. Desperate times call for desperate measures.
OPINION: No Du Preez, no party!
In-form striker Ashley Du Preez was absent for Chiefs because of a flu infection. The 25-year-old former Stellies star had scored in his last two outings, and the Glamour Boys looked toothless in attack without him. Chivaviro missed a presentable chance, as did his 29th-minute replacement Christian Saile. If Chivaviro is ruled out of the AmaZulu clash and Du Preez is fit to return, it makes this decision an easy one for Ntseki.
The former Royal AM winger didn’t have a good game, which could be an assessment of most of the Glamour Boys on Sunday, but Christian Saile’s creativity and smartness could work better on the right-hand side against AmaZulu. In fairness, Mduduzi Mdantsane could easily be dropped too and have no issues if that was the case.
NEW SEASON, SAME OLD KAIZER CHIEFS
Chiefs head coach Molefi Ntseki opted for Tebogo Potsane, Ranga Chivaviro and Pule Mmodi in attack and the new-look front three failed to impress, mustering just two shots on target in the entire match. Ntseki will hope to have Du Preez back for the visit of AmaZulu on Saturday 26 August. As it stands, Chiefs are still winless after three DStv Premiership matches this season, scoring just one goal in total.
