Bafana legend Benni McCarthy has been blown away by Manchester United midfielder, Scott McTominay’s exploits for Scotland. The Manchester United strikers’ coach was reacting to Scott McTominay’s surprise scoring spree for Scotland.
“Brilliant Scotty,” McCarthy tweeted via @Bennimac17.
Pundits say the DStv Premiership award-winning coach might be tempted to convert McTominay into a forward. Reports suggest that McTominay was actually a striker while working his way in the development ranks of United.
However, he was eventually moved away from the frontline with the likes of Jose Mourinho turning McTominay into a defensive midfielder. This season, the Red Devils have not been scoring fluently with questions on whether Marcus Rashford is fit to lead the front line.
Nonetheless, McCarthy was credited for improving the goal conversion rate for the England forward Rashford last season.

HARRY MAGUIRE JOINS MZANSI LEGEND IN PRAISE-SINGING
United defender Harry Maguire has since joined the Mzansi legend in praising McTominay.
“Love it mate,” Maguire tweeted.
The defensive midfielder’s exploits did not escape the Red Devils’ captain Bruno Fernandes’ attention.
“They can’t stop you,” the Portuguese attacker tweeted.
HOW MCTOMINAY’S SCOTLAND FORM COMPARES TO THAT OF UNITED
McTominay’s form for Scotland is in sharp contrast to that of United. The midfielder has rarely played this season under United manager Erik ten Hag. The United gaffer prefers the central midfield pairing of Casemiro and Christian Eriksen.

QUESTIONS ON UNITED MANAGER’S FIELDING
News outlet Athletic reporter, Adam Crafton, has since questioned Erik ten Hag’s fielding of McTominay.
“I wonder if Erik ten Hag, Jose Mourinho and, to some extent, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer have misdiagnosed him,” Crafton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“They have thought of him as a number six, as a back-up to Casemiro, but that does not really seem to be his game.”
