NO KAIZER CHIEFS PLAYERS IN THE BAFANA BAFANA SQUAD
Having named a few footballers from Naturena in the provisional list last week, Broos’ final of 23 players was announced on Wednesday via X.
Amakhosi’s trio of Sifiso Hlanti, Sphiwe Msimango and Pule Mmodi have been dropped.
Notable inclusions in the final list include SuperSport United’s in-form midfielder Grant Magerman, as well as the return of Moreirense attacker – Kobamelo Kodisang – who scored 11 times in 29 games in the Portuguese LigaPro last season.
Shock exclusions include Njabulo Blom (St. Louis) and Bongokuhle Hlongwane (Minnesota United).
TWO FRIENDLY MATCHES IN SEPTEMBER
The national side will compete in two friendly games in September following Zimbabwe’s elimination from the AFCON qualifiers.
The first friendly will be against neighbours Namibia on 9 September before a game against DR Congo on the 12th. Both matches will be held at the Orlando Stadium.
Did you know? Bafana Bafana have not played in Cape Town in almost 10 years. Reports say SAFA and the City of Cape Town do not see eye to eye since clashing over a planning issue in 2014.
