Egyptian Premier League giants Al Ahly have reportedly disclosed that former PSL forward Percy Tau is injured.
Al Ahly team doctor Ahmed Jaballah gave the update on Tau through an Egyptian news outlet, FilGoal.com.
The update follows the injury which Tau suffered on September 19 2023 during an Egyptian Premier League match.
Tau picked up the leg injury after helping Al Ahly to a 4-0 win over Al Masry.
The injury dampened the man-of-the match display for the former Mamelodi Sundowns man.
The South African international had scored a brace to hand Al Ahly a promising start to the season.
The Reds are gunning for the Egyptian Premier League title defence.
WHAT AL AHLY TEAM DOCTOR SAID ON BAFANA STAR’S INJURY
“Percy Tau suffered a severe bruise in his front leg muscle,” Jaballah told GolFil.com.
Now, the Witbank-born star will watch proceedings from the sidelines.
The Lion of Judah will miss the CAF Champions League encounter against Ethiopia’s St George on September 24 2023.
WHEN IS THE 2018 PSL PLAYER-OF-YEAR EXPECTED BACK IN ACTION?
Jaballah did not give an exact date for the 2018 PSL Player-of -the-Year’s return to action.
“The date for Tau to attend group training will be decided based on the result of the medical examination,” he added.
It is the sort of the news Bafana handler Hugo Broos should be concerned about.
Afterall, Broos has benefited from the form of players such as Tau in the recent engagements for Bafana Bafana.
WHY BAFANA BAFANA SHOULD BE CONCERNED
Therefore, the Bafana leading front man’s injury is a cause for concern.
The former Brighton and Hove winger seemed to have overcome injuries which slowed down his Al Ahly career.
Tau left the glitz and glamour of the Premier League for Egypt in 2021.
Former Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane lured Tau to Al Ahly.
Mosimane eventually quit Al Ahly last year. He took a sabbatical for some months.
Jingles is now in charge of Al Wahda FC in the United Arab Emirates.
The ex-SuperSport United coach secured a move to Al Wahd after leaving Al Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
