It was a case of double ariel brilliance as Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns played out a 1-1 draw at the FNB Staduim on Saturday Afternoon.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS DOMINATED THE FIRST HALF
From the very beginning, Mamelodi Sundowns dominated the game, forcing Kaizer Chiefs to drop deep into their own half.
The Sundowns’ offensive prowess was evident as Tebogo Mokwena, Themba Zwane, and Lucas Riberio all had attempts at goal, keeping Chiefs’ goalkeeper Peterson busy throughout the first half.
In stark contrast, Chiefs struggled to create any meaningful chances, leaving their goalkeeper Ronwen Williams with minimal action.

CASTILLO PUTS AMAKHOSI IN THE LEAD
The second half saw a dramatic turn of events, with Kaizer Chiefs taking the lead thanks to an impressive goal from Edson Castillo in the 61st minute. Assisted by Ashley du Preez’s expert cross, Castillo found the net, causing jubilation amongst the Amakhosi faithful.
However, the pressure from Mamelodi Sundowns remained relentless as they pushed for an equalizer.

THE BRAZILIANS PERSISTENCE PAYS OFF
With time running out, the Brazilians’ persistence eventually paid off in stoppage time.
Khuliso Mudau’s brilliant header found the back of the net, leveling the score and securing a crucial away goal for Mamelodi Sundowns.
The draw leaves both teams with everything to play for in the upcoming second leg.
Kaizer Chiefs will need to defend their narrow advantage, while Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to capitalize on their away goal and secure victory on their home turf.
